Area Sales Manager – Transformers Role Overview The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing strategic customer relationships and driving the sales of power and distribution transformer solutions within the Singapore market. This is a customer-facing commercial position requiring a strong combination of transformer product knowledge, technical sales capability, account management and commercial negotiation experience. Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute sales strategies for the transformer business within the Singapore market. - Identify and develop new business opportunities across utilities, power transmission and distribution, EPC, infrastructure, data centre, industrial and energy customers. - Promote transformer products and solutions including power transformers, distribution transformers and associated transformer solutions/services. - Manage existing key accounts while developing relationships with new customers and decision-makers. - Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, developers, industrial customers and other relevant stakeholders. - Understand customers' technical and commercial requirements and translate them into suitable transformer solutions. - Manage the complete sales cycle, from early opportunity identification and customer engagement through tendering, proposal submission, negotiation and order closure. - Work closely with internal engineering, tendering and technical teams to prepare technical and commercial proposals. - Review customer specifications, tender requirements and commercial conditions to ensure proposed solutions meet customer expectations. - Participate in tender clarification meetings, technical discussions and commercial negotiations. - Negotiate pricing, contractual terms, delivery requirements and other commercial conditions with customers. - Develop account strategies and opportunity plans for key customers and major projects. - Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular forecasts on opportunities, order intake and expected revenue. - Monitor competitor activities, market developments, upcoming projects and customer investment plans. - Identify opportunities to increase market share and strengthen the organisation's position within the Singapore transformer market. - Coordinate with regional sales, factories, engineering, tendering, project management and service teams throughout the sales process. - Support the handover of successfully secured projects from Sales to Project Management and execution teams. - Maintain customer relationships after order placement and identify opportunities for repeat business, upgrades, services and additional solutions. - Ensure sales activities are conducted in accordance with internal commercial, compliance and risk-management requirements. - Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and sales information within the company's CRM system. Requirements - Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline. - Minimum 10 years of relevant sales, business development, account management or commercial experience within the electrical/power industry. - Direct sales or business development experience involving power transformers and/or distribution transformers is strongly preferred. - Strong understanding of transformer applications within power transmission, distribution, substations, utilities and industrial power systems. - Demonstrated experience managing customer relationships and developing new business within Singapore. - Existing customer relationships within utilities, EPC contractors, power companies, infrastructure, data centres, industrial or energy sectors would be highly advantageous. - Proven track record of achieving sales targets, securing orders and growing customer accounts. - Experience managing the complete sales process including lead generation, opportunity qualification, tendering, technical/commercial proposals, negotiation and contract closure. - Able to understand customer technical specifications and work with engineering/tendering teams to develop appropriate commercial solutions. - Strong commercial awareness with experience in pricing and contract negotiations. - Strong stakeholder-management skills and ability to develop relationships with technical and commercial decision-makers. - Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills. - Strong written and spoken English and Chinese to support relevant customer and stakeholder communication requirements. - Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform would be advantageous. - Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with regional and global teams. - Willingness to travel when required for customer meetings and business activities.
