Research Scientist
Job Summary
The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) is seeking a Research Scientist specializing in Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering. The role involves carrying out a research project on laser additive manufacturing in collaboration with an industrial partner. Responsibilities include managing project milestones, conducting hands-on experiments, and preparing communications for industry and funding agencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage the project with the defined milestones and deliverables.
- Carry out hands-on experiments to meet deliverables and KPIs.
- Write and prepare communications content and interface with the industry and funding agency.
Required Skills
- Bachelor degree in mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in additive manufacturing
- Proficiency in microstructural characterization and mechanical testing
- Experience in laser directed energy deposition additive manufacturing
- Good written and oral communication skills
Job Details
The Research Scientist is expected to help the principal investigator to carry out a research project on laser additive manufacturing in collaboration with an industrial partner.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor qualification degree in mechanical, materials or manufacturing engineering or related field
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in engineering research / technical hands-on experience in additive manufacturing or related field
- Proficiency in experimental skills in microstructural characterization, including metallograph and EBSD.
- Proficiency in experimental skills in mechanical testing, such as hardness testing.
- Demonstrated experience in laser directed energy deposition additive manufacturing.
- Knowledge of the relationship between microstructures and mechanical properties of metallic materials.
- Good written and oral communication skills
